Audit Senior

Thomas Stephen & Company, LLP is seeking a Senior Auditor to work under the direction of audit managers and partners. Candidate will have the responsibility for completing audits at client locations, including supervision and review of the work of staff auditors.

Responsibilities

Completion of a variety of audit engagements from planning through execution of field work and preparation of financial statements.
Maintain relationships and communication with clients.
Communicate information clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, to management, the staff and clients.
Schedule and plan the activities of professional and clerical staff as it relates to the needs of the client’s audits in progress.
Review for accuracy, compliance and quality control.

Experience and Skills Requirements

CPA or CPA candidate.
Three (3) years audit experience with Big 4 or regional required (must have experience running engagements).

Industry Experience:

Not for Profit (including Single Audit).
Construction and Manufacturing – (some travel required).
Real Estate and Affordable Housing.
Software: Prosystems Engagement, ATB, Lacerte, Microsoft Word and Excel Applications, Adobe.
Thorough knowledge of U.S. generally accepted accounting principles and financial reporting.
Thorough knowledge of generally accepted auditing standards and compliance and substantive testing techniques, including audit sampling methods.
Prior experience with compliance auditing under generally accepted Government Auditing Standards a plus.
Proven analytical and problem solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Self directed and organized style.

Tax Senior

Thomas Stephen & Company, LLP is seeking a Tax Senior to work under the direction of tax managers and partners. Candidate will have the responsibility for completing multiple returns, including supervision and review of the work of tax staff.

Responsibilities

5 plus years experience in public tax and accounting.
Prepare corporate, franchise, partnership, individual and not for profit tax returns.
Train staff accountants in all types of tax preparation.
Review tax returns prepared by staff accountants.
Prepare and/or review all exempt returns (990,990-T and 990-PF).
Work with partner to handle IRS exams.
Conduct tax research and assign tax calculations to clients.
Meet with and advise clients on tax planning and compliance.
Work with audit department in the preparation of tax returns for audit clients.

Education and Experience Required

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or taxation required; Master’s degree preferred.
CPA required.
Not for profit, high net worth, real estate, construction and insurance industry  experience.
Self directed and organized.
Strong leadership and client relationship abilities.
Excellent written and verbal skills.
Able to meet deadlines and engagement time budgets.
Software: Lacerte, File In Time, Microsoft Office Applications, RIA, ProSystems engagement.

Prepare tax related returns and letters.
Enter in Timeslips, FIT and Lacerte when returns are completed.
Copy documents for IRS agents/audits.
Misc. Bookkeeping.
File extensions in extension binder.
File 8879′s in binder.
Monthly copy report and copy codes.
Data entry in FIT.
Data entry in Timeslips.
Scan or email misc. documents to clients as instructed.
Transfer files to new tax, audit, financial and perm binders.
Assist clients as needed.
Maintenance of FIT jobs for Tax Department.

Audit Intern

Financial Statement Packages (FS, SAS 112 letters, SAS 114 letters, mgmt rep letters, OMB letters).
Engagement letters.
Misc. letters when requested.
Correspondence to audit clients.
Foot all financial statements before sending to manager for final approval.
Final check of all financial statements before remittance to clients.
Bind and Copy all financial statements fro remittance to client.
Prepare confirmations and related party questionaires when needed by auditors.
Track items in Q/C.
File for audit manager.
Create new client files for audit department.
Date entry FIT.
Date entry Timeslips.
Scan or email misc. documents to client as instructed.
Shred documents as instructed.
Transfer files to new tax, audit, financial, and perm binders.
Assist clients as needed.
